IMOLA Project > Activities > Co-Management > Capacity Building

In a process of supporting establishment and strengthening of FAs, the IMOLA Project has provided formal commune-level training to FAs in the six pilot communes on "fisheries management regulation and FA establishment procedures." The main objective of this training was to improve the commune and village authorities' and FA members' understanding of fisheries management regulations and policies, in line with the development of FA resouce management plan.

Further, the project has organized commune-level training for these FAs on "participatory planning for lagoon management." The main objective of the training was to improve the understanding of participatory planning for lagoon management and facilitate practices of participatory planning for the development of fisheries co-management.

To strengthen the project support to the target FAs, the project also trained its technical staffs in "financial planning and management" as these aspects of FA management is increasingly becoming important since FAs are increasingly involved in the lagoon resource management.

In the future, training in conflict manament and monitoring, surveillance, and control would be conducted to further enhance the capacity of local FAs.
