The IMOLA Project is a trust-fund project executed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, jointly funded by the Italian and Vietnamese governments.

For its phase I (2005-2008), the IMOLA Project received USD 1,726,988 from the Government of Italy and USD 131,000 equivalent in-kind contribution from the Government of Viet Nam. The project phase I also received contribution from the Government of Netherland and the Government of Japan in a form of Associate Professional Officers (APOs). Contributions were also provided in kind by the Polytechnic University of Marche, Centre for Geotechnologies of the University of Siena, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy through the provisions of the IV Protocol for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Italy and Viet Nam.

Donor funds were to finance a Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), consultants, travel, training, vehicles, office and laboratory equipment, participatory rural appraisals and studies, the establishment of experimental aquaculture pilots, and services related to complexities of project implementation. Counterpart funds provided by GoV covered mainly salaries of staff participating in the project, office space, furniture, and utilities.

For its phase II (2008-2010), the project received additional USD 1,000,000 from the Government of Italy and will continue to receive an APO as a contribution from the Government of Japan.
