Traditional "fisherfolk" boat racing season arrived!

Around the Independence Day of Viet Nam (2 Sep) is the high season for local fisherfolk to organize traditional boat racing on the Tam Giang-Cau Hai Lagoon. In this occation, IMOLA Project has supported three traditional boat racing in the lagoon, organized respectively by Mieu Nha FA of Loc Dien (27 Aug), Dong Hai FA of Loc Tri (29 Aug), and Loc Binh FAs (2 Sep).

The boat racing is an excellent way to mobilize people and bring up the community spirit among the local fishers. As the event is organized jointly by local Fisheries Associations (FAs) and Commune People's Committee, the festival also provides a good opportunity to increase the publicity of local FAs in the community and strengthen the working relationship between the FAs and local authorities for lagoon co-management.
